The Birkenstock Uerzell sneaker mule is now offered in three new colorways.

Birkenstock’s sneaker mule is back for fall in three new colors.

On Thursday, the German footwear company reintroduced the footbed centered Uerzell sneaker mule in “Cuoio,” “Caccia” and “Wine” colorways as part of its 1774 line, Birkenstock’s Paris-based special projects and collaborations unit.

Originally unveiled in 2025 as part of Ensemble 1774, the initiative’s inaugural collaboration with French designer Thibo Denis, the sculptural lace-up clog returns through a “refined study in color,” the company said.

The Uerzell stands as one of the defining designs of Ensemble 1774. Blending the ease of a clog with the character of a lace-up sneaker, its distinctive construction combines sculptural proportions, a visible cork midsole and an elevated sole

Each pair features the signature Birkenstock Blue Footbed — a removable, anatomically shaped insole rooted in the brand’s orthopedic heritage — and is finished with the signature bone-pattern outsole and the 1774 emblem embossed in blue.

The new colors of the Uerzell sneaker clog, which retails for $395, are now available at 1774.com and selected global retail partners.

According to the company, Ensemble 1774 is a platform within the 1774 ecosystem, “created to invite visionary talents to engage with Birkenstock’s archive.” Having worked closely with the 1774 Studio since 2021, beginning with the development of the Dior by Birkenstock collection, Denis serves as the first collaborator of this project.

In addition to his work with Birkenstock, Denis serves as the design director of men’s ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories at Louis Vuitton under Pharrell Williams. Prior to joining Louis Vuitton in 2024, Denis was the head of footwear for Dior Men’s under Kim Jones. He began his career at Kris Van Assche as a designer for shoes & accessories and then for menswear.

This newest update to the Uerzell comes at a busy time for Birkenstock, which has amassed quite an active release calendar. In September, the company revealed it was teaming up with filmmaker, creative director and record executive Cole Bennett on an updated take on the Birkenstock Boston clog as part of its 1774 line

Earlier in September, the company released its hotly anticipated collaboration with Etro, which featured takes on the Boston clog and the Gizeh sandal. In August, the company released its second collection with South Korean label Ader Error on a range of updated Boston clogs.

One month earlier, Birkenstock revealed its tie-up with French shoe company Repetto. The ballet-inspired range featured the Arizona sandal, the Scala and the Opéra sabot. The range was unified by a Vichy-check gingham footbed lining — a Repetto signature motif.

And in June, Birkenstock previewed its new collaboration with Sacai at the Japanese fashion label’s spring/summer 2027 show during Paris men’s fashion week. The two footwear styles merged elements from three different Birkenstock silhouettes for a mash up of buckles on a sandal and clog silhouette.
